I am a Longfellow Lion, Ben Franklin Wildcat, Fargo North Spartan and NDSU Bison. I'm a small business owner and three-term Cass County Commissioner, and I am running for the Fargo City Commission with the goal of getting back to the basics of what city government should do.
I have owned and operated multiple businesses for more than three decades, along with ownership in commercial and multi-family properties. This real-world experience in balancing budgets, meeting payroll, navigating regulations, and creating jobs has shaped my commitment to control rates of government growth and promote taxpayer-friendly policies. As a commissioner I led through challenging times—from regional flooding to public health crises—all while keeping taxes low, supporting public safety initiatives, and voting to fund essential services that families, businesses, and neighborhoods across our city have come to expect.
During 12 years of dedicated public service on the Cass County Commission — representing much of north Fargo — I served multiple terms as Chair, and earned statewide recognition, including the Commissioner of the Year award from the North Dakota Association of Counties, and multiple national appointments including chairing the National Association of Counties' (NACo) Homeland Security Subcommittee, serving as the only elected official in the United States on the National Homeland Security Consortium, and being one of only five commissioners in the nation appointed to NACo's Artificial Intelligence Exploratory Committee. I bring a unique blend of private-sector know-how and proven public leadership.
I am ready to bring that same proven leadership and common-sense approach to the Fargo City Commission. As our city continues to grow rapidly, we need strong, experienced leadership and I will fight for:
Ensure fiscal responsibility and hold the line on property taxes.
Support public safety and quality-of-life initiatives.
Invest in infrastructure and roads.
Build a more transparent, collaborative government that listens to residents.
